George Salazar has been a part of ‘Be More Chill’ since it was a small show in Two Rivers, NJ. Now, he’s making waves in the Broadway production, four years later, in the beloved role of Michael. As the best friend of lead Jeremy Heere (Will Roland), George’s Michael quickly goes from sidekick to hero in the Sci-Fi Musical Comedy that has quickly taken over Broadway and stolen fans’ hearts. George’s big number, “Michael In The Bathroom” is one of the show’s standout moments, in which Michael sneaks into a party he wasn’t invited to and locks himself in the bathroom for a moment of self-reflection — yet it’s incredibly emotional, because every person in the audience has been through it. “I need this moment to breathe. It’s something we all go through. We do it at Thanksgiving dinner, with people that we’re actually comfortable with because they’re our family. But we still do it because it’s like sometimes you need that moment to be alone,” he explained in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife. “For Michael, there’s a line of people outside of the door and he’s at a party that he wasn’t invited to, but he snuck into. You just feel trapped and you feel helpless. You’re guest friend just left you. These things that on the surface feels so silly, basic and, and child’s play kind of stuff, but the emotions are real and they’re universal.”
