David Letterman Then & Now: Photos — David Letterman was born on April 12, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN & he is a television host, comedian, and producer. In 1977, he become a regular guest on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,’ and became a regular guest host, starting in 1978. In 1980, he got a morning show on NBC, ‘The David Letterman Show,’ that was quickly cancelled. He was then given a late night show on Feb. 1, 1982. In 1992, David left NBC to start his own show at CBS – the ‘Late Show with David Letterman,’ which premiered in August of 1993. David announced his retirement in 2015 & has since created his own show, ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,’ which aired on October 21, 2020.
