Cynthia Lennon, born September 10, 1939, was the first wife of Beatle John Lennon. Cynthia and John married on August 23, 1962 in Liverpool. John was 21 and Cynthia was 22 at the time. At the time of the marriage, The Beatles were merely popular in Liverpool, with girls being the rock band’s biggest fans.
As such, Cynthia and John’s marriage was kept tightly under wraps. Roughly two years after their marriage, the couple’s son, Julian was born on April 8, 1963. John and Cynthia split by 1968, and Cynthia went on to marry three more times. She wrote a book about her life with John, published in 2005. She died on April 1, 2015 after her struggle with cancer.
