Cara Mund — Cara Mund hails from North Dakota, which is where she won the crown for Miss North Dakota in June 2017. One year later, the American beauty went onto win an even bigger crown: Miss America. She won against 50 other competitors and was rightfully honored with the prestigious title in Atlantic City. There, she continued on the winner’s tradition of taking a winner’s dip into the Atlantic City ocean outside Boardwalk Hall.

Mund has definitely been making more than a splash in the pageant industry, and has made history as well by being the first ever contestant from North Dakota to win the title. (For context, the pageant has been going on for 100 years and only a total of three other North Dakota women have made it to the top 10.)
