‘Jeopardy!’ champions Ken Jennings, left, and Brad Rutter, right, look on as an IBM computer called “Watson” beats them to the buzzer to answer a question during a practice round of the ‘Jeopardy!’ quiz show in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. in 2011. Brad is the all-time cash winning contestant on ‘Jeopardy,’ with $4.7 million in winnings. He achieved that huge sum mainly through tournament play, as when he first appeared on the show in Oct. of 2000, winners were limited to five games before they had to retire (the rule was later changed in 2003 allowing a contestant to keep playing until they lost, allowing Ken to go on a 74 game winning streak in 2004). Even though Brad only took home just over $55K on his five days of regular play on the show, he’s won several tournaments with $1M purses and in 2005 he competed in the Ultimate Tournament of Champions and took home a record purse of $2,100,000. He’ll be competing against Ken and 2019 sensation James Holzhauer who took home $2.46 million in prize money in 32 games thanks to his daring wages in the 2020 Greatest of All Time Tournament beginning on Jan. 7.
