Andrew Yang is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and now, a Democratic candidate for president in the 2020 election. Seen here at the second Democratic presidential debate in July 2019, Yang has grown a strong following online from his voters, who call themselves the Yang Gang. The son of Taiwanese immigrants, Yang attended Columbia and Brown, became a corporate lawyer for a short time, then got into startups. His first was called Stargiving, which aimed to “raise money for celebrity-affiliated nonprofits.” He eventually became the CEO of test prep company Manhattan GMAT, then starting the companies Venture for America, Kickboard, and ShapeUp. As a presidential candidate, his platform is universal basic income, which gives every adult in the United States ages 18 to 64 a $1000 check per month, no strings attached. His campaign slogans include “Make America Think Harder” and “Humanity First.” To see pics of Andrew Yang, scroll through this gallery.
