‘A Call To Spy’ is a new film about the rise of female spies during World War II. At the beginning of the war, Winston Churchill ordered a new spy agency — the SOE — to recruit and train female spies. Their mission was to conduct sabotage and build a resistance. SOE’s ‘Spymistress’ Vera Atkins recruits Virginia Hall and Noor Inayat Khan. Together, these women undermine the Nazi regime in France and change the course of the war. Virginia was an ambitious American spy with a wooden leg. The movie stars Stana Katic, Sarah Megan Thomas, and Radhika Apte. Sarah not only starred in the movie, but she also wrote the original screenplay and produced the project. ‘A Call To Spy’ won the Audience Choice Award at Whistler Film Festival and the ADL Stand Up Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Sarah Megan Thomas stars as Virginia Hall. ‘I think it was so surprising how much she actually did, how powerful she was. From finding safe houses, organizing prison breaks, building up the local resistance and plans, handing out money, she was the person in power in Leon running the whole thing, so to speak, by the end of the war,’ Virginia told HL.
