āIām heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron [Pippen],ā Scottie Pippen posted to social media on Monday (Apr. 19), along with photos of his 33-year-old son both as a grown man and as a young baby. āThe two of us shared a love for basketball, and we had countless conversations about the game,ā added the former Chicago Bulls player. Scottie didnāt disclose the cause of his sonās death but added that he was āproud of the man that [Antron] became.ā Scottie also said that his son had āa kind heart and beautiful soul,ā and he was āgone way too soon. I love you, son. Rest easy until we meet again.ā As family and friends mourn this loss, hereās what you need to know:
1. Antron Pippen Was Scottie Pippenās Eldest Child.
Scottie is a father to seven kids, with Antron being the oldest. Antron was born on Dec. 29, 1987, and was the only child between Scottie and his ex-wife, Karen McCollum (they were married between 1988 and 1990, per Marie Claire.) Scottie mentioned his ex-wife when announcing Antronās death (āPlease keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.ā
Scottie would go on to give Antron six half-siblings: Taylor Pippen, 26, (and her twin sister, Tyler Pippen, who tragically died in the hospital nine days after birth) with ex-girlfriend Sonya Roby; Sierra Pippen, 26, with ex-girlfriend Yvette Deleone; Scotty Pippen Jr., 20, Sophia Pippen, 12, Preston Pippen, 18, and Justin Pippen, 15, with estranged wife, Larsa Pippen.
1. Antron Suffered From Asthma ā But Didnāt Let That Stop Him.
When announcing his sonās death, Scottie shared a newspaper clipping of him alongside Antron while the young boy worked out on a basketball court. āNBA Standout Scottie Pippen watches while his son, Antron, 14, does push-ups follow[ings] a drill at the Scottie Pippen Basketball Camp at the University of Central Arkansas,ā the caption read. Antron had the brightest smile on his face, and Scottie shared how his son had to overcome adversity to play the game he loved.
āAntron suffered from chronic asthma, and if he hadnāt had it, I truly believe he wouldāve made it to the NBA,ā wrote Scottie. āHe never let that get him down, thoughāAntron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.ā
3. Antron Played Basketballā¦
That ācan-doā spirit saw Antron play basketball for Texas A&M University, according to Marie Claire. Unfortunately, a career in the NBA wasnāt in the cards for Antron, but he did sign with the Upstate Heat, a team with the World Basketball Association.
4. ā¦But Also Had A Day Job.
At the start of 2021, Antron āplayed with a local team in Atlanta,ā according to Amo Mama, who also noted that he āworks as a machine technician in a lab.ā
5. Antron Maintained A Very Low Profile.
For someone with the last name āPippen,ā Antron maintained a quiet profile ā at least, he did online. He infrequently posted to his Facebook page. He did share some photos of him alongside his mother, Karen, but there arenāt any recent pictures of the two of them together.

Our thoughts are with Antronās family and friends during this time.
