Patricia Richardson and her dark brown locks are synonymous with the sitcom Home Improvement. So it comes as no surprise that fans were totally shocked when she stepped out with her natural hair color for a new interview. The ’90s sitcom star, 69, usually dyes her hair a chestnut brown but decided to let her natural light grey color grow out during quarantine. She sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight, opening up about her relationship with Tim Allen and her time on the show.
“Immediately, I loved him,” she said of Tim, adding that they had instant on-screen chemistry. But off-screen, being in the spotlight came with challenges, like tabloids scrutinizing her looks. “They said, for instance, that the producers made me keep the weight on, and I was just like, ‘How are they making me keep the weight on? Do they come to my house and force feed me?'” she said, explaining that she had recently given birth to twins before she started filming.
“What was great was that the producers were like, ‘We don’t care,'” she said. “I was like, ‘I am working hard to try to lose the weight,’ and they were like, ‘We don’t care, look like whatever you like, you look real, we don’t care.'”
Patricia took it all in her stride, and continues to do so, opening up about her hair woes on Instagram. “Ok here we have COVID hair grow out. Just don’t want to cut it! So…. new covid fashion raccoon hair?” she captioned a selfie back in October, which showed her old color growing out and her greys coming in. Nevertheless, fans are loving her natural look. “Love this, love your hair and love you,” one person tweeted, while another fan wrote, “You look wonderful with that hairstyle. Wish you all the best in this difficult time and stay healthy.”
