When did you know you wanted to model?
My mom’s best friend was a model and she lived in New York City in the 80s. As a little girl, I remember seeing her book and being in awe. New York in your 20s and 30s – some people save up their whole lives to visit that city just once – how lucky she was to live there and experience that time in her life. She was so encouraging of me and my dreams that she even coordinated and styled a photoshoot for me…I was immediately hooked! If I could play dress up as an adult, then this was the job for me!

When you got the call from SI, what was your reaction?
Sports Illustrated has always been a dream of mine, so when my agent at Ford Models contacted me about meeting with them to be potentially booked for their iconic Swimsuit Issue – I was stunned! It was a whirlwind, but I remember calling my parents immediately after – we were all just yelling into the phone! It honestly is one of the highlights of my career so far!

Dream job or where you’d love to be eventually?
Oh my gosh, this whole YEAR has been a dream! I’m so fortunate to work in this industry, but ultimately, I realize the importance of giving back. Social issues are really important to me so I’d like to use my platform to help wherever I can.

Favorite model of the moment?
How am I supposed to pick just one?! I absolutely love Gigi, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lily Aldridge. I love models that showcase their unique personality, like Chrissy Tiegen, and women that are redefining beauty standards in the fashion industry – like Ashley Graham and Winnie Harlow.

And, I simply can’t discuss models without bringing up the Supermodels of the 80s and 90s! Claudia, Cindy, Kathy, Elle, Naomi, Kate…they will always be my absolute favorites.

You have a huge Instagram following. What are your thoughts on the term ‘Instagram model?’
I think social media has completely changed the modeling industry in a number of ways. The way models are scouted, booked, marketed, etc. However, I do think it’s pretty awesome that models have more control over their image through social media and their audience is able to see a more personal side. Personally, I love Instagram! I want to truly embrace life’s moments and experiences and I think my profile reflects that. But on another note, I don’t care who you are, when you get a notification that someone has liked your Instagram post, you always get a little excited!
