Cory Monteith, 31, was sadly found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13, 2013. Now, a brand new TV special titled Autopsy: The Last Hours of Cory Monteith, gives viewers a reenactment of his final months alive. In the sneak peek clip, it discusses when Cory was called into Fox Studios to talk with Glee creator Ryan Murphy on March 28. Media journalist James Desborough explains, “Cory was late several times for work and people began sensing from the smell of his breath, that there were problems. We understand from sources that at times he would neck bottles of whiskey in just under an hour.”
To Cory’s dismay, he was pulled off the show, despite there only being two episodes left to film. Producers were getting the impression the young actor was under the influence of drugs, which led to their decision. The REELZ series’ Dec. 3 episode gives fans the opportunity to understand his troubled times, while also informing them with medical evidence. Cory played quarterback Finn Hudson on the Emmy-winning Fox musical series, where he also found love with his co-star Lea Michele. She later got a commemorative tattoo to keep his memory alive.
As we know, Cory didn’t make an appearance in Glee‘s final two episodes of season 4, since they were filmed while he was seeking treatment. He tragically passed away before production began on season 5 and the cause of death was reportedly a mixture of heroin and alcohol. Lea recently paid tribute to her ex on the third anniversary of his passing, writing, “I know everyday you’re watching over me, and smiling. Love and miss you Cory, everyday, but today a little more.”
