“Thank you guys so much, I am shaking, I want to say thank you to my fans, I love you to the bottom of my heart… I am shaking,” Ariana Grande said on stage after receiving the 2016 American Music Award for Artist of the Year in Los Angeles, California at the Microsoft Theater. The award was presented to Ariana by Donnie Wahlberg and his wife Jenny McCarthy. It was a well-earned and much deserved award after an amazing year of music.
In 2016, Ariana had a handful of hits devoured by fans including, “Dangerous Woman,” “Side To Side,” and “Let Me Love You,” so it is no wonder she came home with the award. Bravo Ariana! Her award came on the heels of an emotional speech from Selena Gomez who had just won an award for Favorite Female Artist. Wow, what an incredible night.

“My god, I am trying not to cry… I hope I can bring joy to you,” Ariana said as she fought back the tears. 2016 Has been quite a year for Ariana. After dropping the album “Dangerous Woman,” she has been in and out of the studio working and enjoying a new romance with boyfriend Mac Miller . She was in a tough category up against the biggest names in the industry including, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez and Drake.

It was an epic night full of great performances with Ariana’s award capping off an amazing night. Bruno Mars kicked off the night of proper singing “24k Magic,” and he was followed up by former One D’er, Niall Horan who sang “This Town.” The night took off from there and the show was filled with magical moments throughout.
