Congratulations are in order for Jonathan Knight, 47, and his boyfriend Harley Rodriguez, 43, who recently got engaged! The New Kids on the Block pop star shared the big news on Jenny McCarthy‘s Sirius XM program, The Jenny McCarthy Show, on Nov. 15. And the story of the proposal is just beautiful!
“We were in Africa, our parents were there — our moms were there — and I just figured this was the time to pop the question and make it official,” Jonathan told Jenny. Even sweeter, Jonathan said that he and Harley have “always considered [themselves] a married couple,” but that Harley had “no clue” that Jonathan was going to actually pop the question. Whoa! What a wonderful surprise!
“We were on the Zambezi River — it’s right above Victoria Falls,” Jonathan continued. “We took a nighttime raft dinner, just the four of us out on the river, there was like a hippopotamus in the background. It was a super moon. It was just absolutely beautiful, it was so romantic.” OMG, we’re bawling right now.

The story of the pair’s love goes all the way back to when they met in 2008 and has been dotted with big moments like when they competed on The Amazing Race together and when Jonathan began using Harley’s last name on his social media accounts. Jonathan joked that they got to the point, “where it’s like, ‘OK, somebody’s got to do it.’” Aw, how sweet! We’re already DYING to see this wedding!
