James said that two years ago, a young woman claiming to be his daughter reached out to him “by email,” he told Radar Online. James said that this woman also claimed Janet was her mother. “She [said it] without saying it. She was angry because another child was trying to come forward and say that she was our child.”
Janet postponed her tour to “plan her family,” and she was reportedly pregnant with her first child, according to Entertainment Tonight. It’s another reported child that caused James’s mystery daughter to reach out to him.
“She was very angry about people running with this story about this [other person] being my baby,” James told Radar. “She got very angry. She’s like, ‘Papa I want to help you out.’ She…was so accurate with everything she was saying. It was only things that I and Janet know. He has yet to “directly see her, face-to-face,” and the woman has suggested that James takes a paternity test. He also claims that this mystery daughter found out about her allegedly real parents from “her adoptive mother” who “confirmed it on the deathbed.” As for contacting Janet, James said the alleged daughter wanted to keep this connection private because “she didn’t want to get her mom in trouble. She didn’t even want Janet to know.”
Janet and James eloped in 1984, when she was in her late teens, but they annulled their marriage in 1985. Even though they were together for a brief period of time, James said he suspected Janet had a baby and kept it from him out of fear. “A lot of outside influences were involved in our whole relationship to where we didn’t have a chance from the gate,” James said. “They didn’t want us to have anything.” If this woman’s claims are correct, they now at least have a daughter together!
