The identity of “Becky with the good hair” from Beyonce’s song “Sorry” on Lemonade is still a mystery, but a new report claims that the name might not be referring to just one person like we originally thought. Rather, it’s a reference to all the ladies that Jay Z allegedly cheated on the singer with — yikes!
“I don’t think Beyonce is calling out one girl,” an insider tells Page Six. “It’s many girls. the rumors have been around for years.” The paper reports that things were bad between the couple for quite some time, but things changed when their daughter, Blue Ivy, was born in 2012.
“Jay is now a great husband and this is in the past,” the source explains. “They went through a rocky patch but things are good again. The video is about finally coming to terms with their strength and their love.”
Bey shocked fans by singing about her experience with infidelity on Lemonade, and of course, fans immediately wanted to know who Jay would cheat on the Queen with. The first suspect was Rachel Roy, who he’d been rumored to have gotten too close to in the past, and who intensified things herself by posting an Instagram bragging about her “good hair.” Yep, just like ‘Becky.’
“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that,” the designer said in a statement. “There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”
Then, focus shifted to Rita Ora, 25, who once shared a photo of herself in a lemon-printed bikini while wearing a ‘J’ necklace. But, she too, shot down the reports. “I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumours are false,” she tweeted. “I have nothing but the upmost respect for Beyonce. Let’s continue enjoying Lemonade.”
