“Due to conflicting family and work commitments on opposite coasts, and after much consideration, Peter and Jaimie have chosen to part ways amicably and remain good friends,” their reps told PEOPLE exclusively Feb. 19. The couple met and fell in love while working on the set of Showtime’s Nurse Jackie back in 2012, eight months after Peter’s divorce from wife of 11 years, Jennie Garth, 43.
It’s only fitting that scheduling issues played a part in the couple’s decision to split. After all, Peter made his super romantic proposal to Jaimie in March 2015 at the top of New York’s Empire State Building while their work schedules happened to overlap. If you have to literally make time to get engaged to someone in person, the chances of planning a wedding and having a solid marriage probably weren’t looking so good.
Jaimie shoots Blindspot in New York City, while Peter shoots Supergirl in Los Angeles, so the couple had little time to be together. And it’s likely Peter wouldn’t fully relocate to the Big Apple since two of his three daughters with Jennie, 13-year-old Lola and nine-year-old Fiona are still in school in the L.A. area and what dad would ever want to miss out on his daughters’ teenage years?! Someone has to be there to keep the boy situation under control!
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that Jaimie and Peter split?
