So, what happens when Stefan (Paul Wesley) tells Klaus (Joseph Morgan) about Alaric’s twin babies? Well he reacts “in a very Klaus-like way,” EP Caroline Dries told reporters, including HollywoodLife.com during a screening in LA.
However, while there will be a moment about the babies, the episode will more focus on Klaus and Stefan. “We knew we wanted to see Joseph and Paul Wesley together on screen because they’ve had the longest history on these shows, apart from Elijah and Katherine,” Caroline said. “Now they have some . . . interesting conversation over some bourbon. Stefan is forced into exile because of his story, which won’t be for a few more episodes, but he ends up going to New Orleans for protection. And when you’re in New Orleans, the city is like 10 people [laughs], so of course you’re going to run into your immortal enemy and best friend. It’s a pretty rich, fun, interesting story.”
We also had to know about the fast-forwards that have been teasing us all season — and one character who is missing.
“There is a character that we haven’t seen yet in the flash-forwards — Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig). And we’ll start to understand why we haven’t seen him yet, and what’s going on with him in three years, in the future,” Caroline said. “We start to get little peeks at this force that’s been after Stefan all of this time, and we’ll slowly but surely – I don’t know if it’s going to be 100% evident, but we’ll slowly but surely start to piece together this mythology that we’ve been building with that sword and the stone, and why that’s the spine of the season.”
We’re officially stoked for the return of TVD and The Originals, beginning Fridays at 8PM ET on The CW!
