This is just so sad. Celine’s rep confirmed to People that her beloved husband had passed away on Jan. 14. “Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” a rep told the mag. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at this moment; more details will be provided at a later time.”
Rene was vital to Celine’s career. He met her when she was just 12 years old, and helped develop her into the mega-star she is today. All of Hollywood was so grateful to him for both his talent as a musician, and the talent that is Celine Dion that the world got to experience thanks to his skillful work. It’s such a tragedy that after being beside him for about 3/4 of her life, Celine has to lose him to such a tragic battle. Stars began rushing to twitter to show their support and love for Celine in his difficult time.

Celine has been faithfully caring for Rene since his cancer diagnosis. Last year it got so bad that she took a hiatus from her Vegas residency to care for her husband full-time. However, the death now comes as a shock because he seemed to be doing better recently. We send our prayers to Celine and her family through this tough time.
