The Eagles Of Death Metal refuse to be afraid. The rock group barely escaped with their lives during the devastating Nov. 13 Paris Attacks that left 130 people dead. But now, the EODM have come back to Paris, and the timing of their return has many wondering if U2 has something to do with it.
Jesse Hughes, Matt McJunkins and the rest of the band were spotted arriving at the Charles de Gaulle airport on Nov. 6, reports TMZ. It’s the first time since the band has been to Paris following the Nov. 13 attack on the Bataclan music hall. Click Here To See The Pictures.
EODM’s arrival has many fans wondering if they’ll join U2 on stage during one of the band’s rescheduled shows. U2 played at the AccorHotels Arena on Nov. 6, after canceling their previously scheduled performances in the wake of the deadly attack, reports RollingStone. During this first of two shows, U2 frontman shouted, “We are in Paris! Tonight, the whole word is in Paris.” He added. “We are all Parisians…if you love liberty, Paris is your hometown.”
While Jesse and his band didn’t join Bono and The Edge that night, they may share the stage with the band on Dec. 7. However, when the Bataclan theater reopens in 2016, the Eagles of Death Metal have reportedly said they want to be the first band to play the venue. Their return would be a defiant gesture against fear and terror.
Paris has been in the minds and hearts of Jesse, Josh Homme and the rest of the band. The group began a touching campaign to raise money for the victims and survivors of the attack, inviting bands to record and sell a cover of their song, “I Love You All The Time.” While the terrorists wanted to fill everyone with fear, the Eagles Of Death Metal want to spread love.
Armed gunmen infiltrated the Bataclan on Nov. 13, during the EODM set. As shots rang out, band members ducked and ran for their lives while concertgoers fled the scene. Sadly, 89 people were cut down, including the Eagles Of Death Metal’s merch manager, Nick Alexander. When they were finally able to talk about the attack, the band said they were “horrified” and that most of the victims died because they “wouldn’t leave their friends” behind.
Our thoughts ands sympathies continue to go out to Paris as they recover from this unthinkable act of cruelty.
