1. She’s best known for being an American singer-songwriter and musician.
Jenny rose to fame as the fiery vocalist of the indie rock band Rilo Kiley, which was formed with her friends Pierre De Reeder, Dave Rock and then-boyfriend Blake Sennett in 1998. Beginning with a country sound, Rilo Kiley eventually gravitated towards a more downbeat indie rock vibe, gaining the attention of Warner Bros. Music, who signed the band for the release of their 2004 album More Adventurous. Sadly, the band decided to call it quits in July 2011, at which point Jenny would go on to launch her solo career.
2. She is a former child star.
Before she became known as an indie rocker, Jenny made her claim to fame as a child actor. In addition to a vintage ’80s Corn Pops cereal commercial, Jenny has also appeared in several film roles including the 1989 cult classic Troop Beverly Hills and a role in the ’90s parable Pleasantville, along with TV spots on such shows as Golden Girls, Baywatch, Growing Pains and Roseanne.
3. Kristen Stewart once starred in one of her music videos — as a man!
Remember when Kristen Stewart, 24, Anne Hathaway, 31, and Brie Larson, 24, all dressed up as guys for a music video called “Just One Of The Guys?” Yeah, that was all Jenny’s doing. The musician enlisted the help of her gal pals to lip sync in the song’s viral music video, which saw the red carpet queens dressing up in Adidas jumpsuits, fake mustaches, and backwards hats and showing off their best moves. Pure video gold!
4. She comes from a long line of musicians.
Jenny was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to mother Linda, a professional singer, and her father, Eddie Gordon, who was a member of the Harmonica Gang. The two eventually formed their own lounge act in Las Vegas called Love’s Way, which was the name Jenny originally wanted to give to Rilo Kiley.
5. Dating or not, Jenny is a big supporter of Bill’s.
The two were first linked romantically when Page Six reported that Jenny had arrived late to meet Bill at his “Rock the Kasbah” premiere party in New York on Oct. 20 before getting on stage with him during a performance of The Clash’s “Rock the Casbah.” However, that was hardly their first encounter. Jenny, who’s been linked to singer Johnathan Rice, was also at a Hamptons screening of the film, and the pair was seen together after at the Huntting Inn. She’ll also appear in the Ghostbusters actor’s upcoming holiday special and previously popped up in a faux rock doc to promote his film “Rock the Kasbah.”
