‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: Doctor Who Killed McDreamy Crashes Meredith’s Dinner Party

Remind us never to attend a dinner party at Meredith Grey's house. The Oct. 22 episode, in which Callie's girlfriend revealed herself as the doctor who killed Derek, was so incredibly awkward. Plus, Jo paid the price for snitching on Stephanie and Maggie contracted a UTI after having hot sex with Andrew. Well, that was extremely awkward. Once Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) discovered Callie's (Sara Ramirez) dating Penny, the doctor who killed Derek (Patrick Dempsey), it was only a matter of time before her friends, including Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), realized it, too. And that bomb, which was dropped on the Oct. 22 episode of Grey's Anatomy during Meredith's dinner party, left us gasping for air.

Meredith made the realization at the end of last week’s episode and for the most part of this week’s episode, she kept Penny’s true identity a secret. But while eating dinner, Meredith reached her boiling part. When everyone started asking Penny about her background and discovered she would soon be transferring to Grey Sloan, Meredith freaked, saying, “she killed Derek!” And in that moment, everyone froze. Amelia then wanted answers and inappropriately interrogated Penny. Things just kept getting more and more awkward and Penny tried making an exit. But not before Meredith attacked Amelia, took some shots with Alex (Justin Chambers), and then told Penny she’d see her at work. Wait, what?! Yeah… next week’s episode is going to be so uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) got a UTI from having loads of hot sex with Andrew, the hot intern. She kept having to pee at Meredith’s dinner party and then she rushed to the emergency room, which was probably for the best because she totally missed the Penny bomb that was dropped at dinner.

And Jo (Camilla Luddington) apologized to Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) for calling her a liar. They managed to repair their friendship, but once Stephanie realized that Jo saw her sickness as something that evened them out on the hospital playing field, Stephanie became pissed again.

As far as April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) are concerned, he seems to be warming back up to her, but we still think there’s a long road ahead before they fully reconcile, if ever. Jackson seemed super worried about April getting home safe after having a few glasses of wine. He then told Callie how it’s hard to just shut your feelings off. Preach, Jackson, preach.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should Meredith allow Penny to work at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital? Tell us how you feel!
