Vicki Gunvalson, 53, has finally revealed the reasons behind her Aug. 2015 split from partner Brooks Ayers. The pair has been through so much in their short time together, including a questionable cancer scare for Brooks and clashes with Vicki’s daughter Briana. She’s got more drama going on offscreen than she does on her Bravo reality show, The Real Housewives of Orange County!
“There were a lot of things. I just think that the conflict with Briana, and him and I and him being from the South, he really wanted to go back to the South, and I just think the stress of the show, and he’s sick, and at the end of the day it just didn’t work anymore,” she told Andy Cohen on Oct. 12’s Watch What Happens Live.
“Long-term, we were not gonna work,” she added. “Short-term, it was amazing” she shared with Andy. Vicki’s been with the show since it’s 2006 inception and we’ve seen her go through plenty of ups and downs. But if she’s happy with her life now, then we’re happy for her.
As for Brooks’ cancer scare, Vicki’s RHOC co-star Tamra Judge, 46, has openly questioned his medical drama. Brooks said he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but after an “odd treatment plan,” Tamra claimed she and the rest of the cast were wary of how sick he really was.
“I don’t know a lot about cancer, but you don’t do three rounds of chemo and go, ‘ehh I don’t want to do it anymore,'” Tamra told People in Sept. 2015. “The whole cast is like, ‘this does not sound right.'” As for Vicki, that made her realize that her co-stars are just that and not really her true friends. “They’re not there for me,” she told Andy. “That makes me realize that we’re just TV friends I guess, I don’t know.”
HollywoodLifers, are you sad that Vicki and Brooks split up?
