Famous ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Costume Up For Auction
You too could be king of the forest now! The Bonhams auction house is set to auction off the original Cowardly Lion costume from in the 1939 film Wizard Of Oz, on Nov. 24.
The costume Burt Lahr wore was fashioned from actual lion hide and was worn in numerous scenes from the movie and will undoubtably go for a large lump sum of cash.
A similar costume used in the film sold for nearly $1 million dollars!
But we have to know, does the fabulous red hair-ribbon come with it?
Memorabilia From Other Iconic Films To Be Auctioned Off
The costume is a part of “TCM Presents: There’s No Place Like Hollywood.” Also being auctioned off is memorabilia from Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, and a costume from Gilda.
According to The Associated Press, the costume is owned by James Comisar, a collector of TV memorabilia who’s hoping to raise money to fund the exhibition of his collection.
What a great cause. Hopefully the costume goes to a great home and raises quite a bit of money!
What do you think, HollywoodLifers, would you like to own a piece of memorabilia from the “Wizard Of Oz?” Let us know.
