The former couple knew Comic-Con was coming and their attempt to make things as smooth as possible fell short. HollywoodLife.com has learned exclusive details on what went down between the normally flirtatious exes in San Diego.
“At the WB booth, during The Vampire Diaries cast signing, Nina and Ian were separated by Paul Wesley,” an eyewitness tells HollywoodLife.com. ” The signing event also included stars Paul Wesley, 32, Matt Davis, 36, Kat Graham, 24, and executive producer Julie Plec, 42.
“It was awkward, all the other cast were sitting way closer to each other,” our source also spilled.
Nina didn’t stick around with the rest of the cast before the panel, our source tells us. “As soon as the signing ended, Nina was whisked away solo.”
Despite this “awkward” meet-up, Ian tweeted his excitement about the annual event on July 26 and even said he wanted to kiss someone!

“I’m en route San Diego-watch out… I can’t wait to give you a kiss #ComicCon2014 or #ComicCon Pucker up!” Ian tweeted on July 26. Vampire Diaries fans secretly hoped that Ian would be talking about kissing Nina, since the former flames are so beloved for their on-screen alter-egos, Damon and Elena.

Ian and Nina took home the Ship of the Year award at the mtvU Fandom awards on July 24 and Nina tempted her ex by making out with the award!
Comic-Con is the place for cast members to kick back, have fun and interact with their fans. Ian and Nina usually up the flirt at the event, but that doesn’t seem to be the case this year. Let’s hope they can keep their crazy hot chemistry alive when Vampire Diaries returns in the fall because we all know Delena is endgame.
