The DASH Diet was named the best diet overall. The diet is heart-healthy, but can become expensive because it relies on fresh ingredients. On it, you eat the things you know you should — fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy. You should avoid sweets and red meat in excess, aiming to cut back on salt overall. The diet recommends herbs and spices instead of salt. DASH stands for “Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension.”

Weight Watchers, Jessica Simpson‘s go-to weight loss plan, was honored as the best weight-loss diet. The pros are that you can literally eat anything, but tallying points can take a lot of time.
On this diet, every food is given a point value based on four factors — protein, carbs, fat and fiber. Foods that have a low nutritional value or are hard to digest have a higher point total. One glass of wine is four points. Fruits, which you are encouraged to eat, are no points. Most vegetables are no points, which the exception of some starchy vegetables like corn and potatoes.
You are allotted a daily point total based on your weight and activity level as well as a weekly allowance so you can feel like you can “treat yourself.”
