Charlie Hunnam Didn’t Like The ’50 Shades’ Script
“Charlie was not happy with the script’s quality,” a source told Us Weekly. “He knows leaving was the right decision.”
We’re sure the script was a daring one — the novels were full of S&M and extremely risqué — so it’s no surprise that Charlie actually got nervous. However, it makes us wonder if he knew what the story even was about when he signed on for it.
“Charlie got cold feet,” a source close to the actor revealed to HollywoodLife.com. “He wanted to get out of the movie because he was feeling like it would be his version of Showgirls and he didn’t want to be remembered for that.”
Charlie Is Too Loyal To ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Role
Apparently, what he does want to focus on is playing Jax Teller, the bad-boy biker on Sons of Anarchy, which has a huge fan base itself.
“His loyalty will always be to [Sons of] Anarchy,” the source told Us. He also likes the fame he gets from the show — he’s not yet ready for the A-lister fame that a franchise like 50 Shades of Grey would present him with.
“He dropped out of the project because he didn’t want to be typecast,” a source told People. “He didn’t want the Robert Pattinson-esque attention that would come along with taking on this role.”
So, HollywoodLifers — do you wish Charlie would have stayed in the role?
