While most A-list couples — the eternal union of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart comes to mind — do whatever they can to avoid the paparazzi, Jake and Taylor appear to be hamming it up for the cameras. Those huge smiles. Those exaggerated hugs. They’re like the new Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag! Seriously now, how many paparazzi are lurking around Park Slope in Brooklyn… on Thanksgiving?!
Here are a couple of theories we’ve got cooking as to why Taylor and Jake are faking it for the cameras:
- Jake’s got a movie to promote! Jake’s current movie, Love and Other Drugs, may feature nakedness aplenty between him and Anne Hathaway, but it isn’t doing quite as well at the box office s he probably hoped. The drama only grossed $14.5 million in its first five days, according to Deadline.com. And is there really any better way to drum up much-needed buzz than a highly publicized romance?
- Taylor’s fishing for material! Taylor’s latest album, Speak Now, didn’t sell more than 1 million copies in its first week for no reason. Her fans wanted answers! Now that Taylor is openly writing songs about her exes, she’s got a whole new legion of followers — and if she wants to keep this momentum going, she needs to be in the public eye with a controversial man on her arm. Enter Jake… whose name rhymes with fake. Just saying.
We sent the latest photos of Jake and Taylor to body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass, who says the pair’s positioning speaks volumes about their possible showmance:
“She has her hand clenched, which means there’s kind of a discomfort level,” Dr. Glass points out. “This relationship is awkward very awkward, there are more like friends if anything. There’s no romance between them.”
