“I wrote ‘Princess’ two years ago when many of the women around me were feeling lost or weak,” Cari tells HollywoodLife.com of the triumphant pop song. “I wanted to empower them to feel hopeful and not helpless. We are all going through something, but experiencing the highs and the lows makes us who we are,” she adds. The video, which is directed by Ryan Hutchins and produced by Bill Hendrickson, certainly does the anthemic track justice. It paints a picture of three women facing pivotal moments in their lives, eventually realizing their strengths.

“‘Who said Cinderella can’t save herself?’ is a message I’ve always needed to hear,” Cari also explains. “I cry most times I perform this song — it’s definitely the most personal record I’ve ever released.”

Recently, Cari has been keeping her loved ones in mind. “I think of my friends who inspired [the song]. I think of all the other girls around the world who are experiencing the very same struggles,” she says. “Seeing the actors bring those stories as well their own stories to life was overwhelming.” It’s definitely a song that will resonate with any woman who experiences private pain, and the video is just beautiful.
