We’re still shocked by the fact that Tommy Ford died at the young age of 52 on Oct. 12, following a ruptured aneurysm in his abdomen. The ‘Martin’ star had knee replacement surgery nearly two weeks before his death, so some fans have been wondering if his surgery caused the aneurysm. Well, we’ve got the answer here.
“An aneurysm is an abnormality in a blood vessel wall. Most of the time this is something that we don’t pick up unless we find them incidentally or they become symptomatic. Sometimes people will complain of headaches, dizziness or things like that and we scan their brains and we find it. They are not always deadly. You can find it and a neurosurgeon can go in there and clip it, it is a intervention where they try to prevent the aneurysm from rupturing. A knee surgery would not cause an aneurysm. The aneurysm is totally unrelated,” Dr. Carol Richardson-Te tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
At this time, it’s not clear if the aneurysm led to Tommy Ford‘s death, but one thing is certain — his knee replacement surgery did not cause the aneurysm. But even so, it’s still a heartbreaking situation.
Following his passing, Tommy’s family released the following statement: “It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Son, father, brother, husband, and friend Tommy Mykhal Ford. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers. Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming. Please respect the privacy of the Ford family during our time of grief.”
As we previously told you, Tommy was put in life support on Oct. 12 after an aneurysm ruptured in his abdomen. Then, he tragically died after his condition worsened.
Our thoughts continue to go out to Tommy’s friends and family during this difficult time.
