‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Justin Chambers On Alex’s Demotion — He’s Got To ‘Find Redemption’

Alex didn't get fired after assaulting DeLuca, but he got demoted -- big time. Justin Chambers reveals in an all-new interview that Alex's new journey to 'find redemption' in season 13 is going to be 'interesting,' and it may end up being a good thing for him.

Justin hopes that Alex working in the clinic will give him the chance to do something great with Arizona again. “I think an interesting story’s going to happen there,” he continued in the interview. “Maybe there’s something that he can pull Arizona into at the clinic, something that’s important in pediatrics.”

In the Sept. 29 episode, Alex was hit with a felony assault charge after beating up Andrew. He could have easily been fired from his job or lost his medical license, but Bailey decided to do demote him and have him run the Duquette Clinic instead. The situation has pulled the doctors apart at the seams, and it’s going to be a while before they can all be in the same room again.

One person who has continued to stand by Alex’s side is the one and only Meredith Grey. But how far is she willing to go for him? “I think as long as it’s within the law,” Ellen Pompeo, 46, told Us Weekly. “Alex is her ride-or-die.”

Can Alex and Meredith just get together already? It’s totally going to happen, it’s just a matter of when and where. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
