Ouch! That’s a stinger! Heath Slater suffered a horrible injury at the WWE Live event in Bangor, Maine on July 16 that has to be seen to be believed! The big, bad wrestler was fighting in the ring against Titus O’Neil when a gash opened up above his eye. See his horrific injury right here!
The contest had to be immediately stopped when poor Heath was cut down to the bone above his right eye and Titus was declared the winner. It’s not quite known how the injury was sustained, but ringside physician Dr. Stephen Daquino was on site and immediately treated the wound.
In a statement to WWE, he revealed: “Heath has a six centimeter laceration above his right eye. It was quite open, right down to the bone. He got 18 sutures and hopefully that will close it up.” Ouch!
Heath certainly enjoyed being in the wars, because he couldn’t wait to tweet his nasty battle scars to his thousands of followers. Despite the nature of the injury, it shouldn’t be enough to keep him out of the WWE draft on July 19.
The incident reminds us that the WWE can be fierce, after all how can we forget Enzo Amore‘s tumble at WrestleMania 32. He nearly had his neck snapped as he was thrown out the ring. These guys just have to go through the pain barrier to compete in the ring.
We, and I’m sure all the WWE, wish Heath a speedy recovery and hope to see him in the ring very soon. We’re sure he’ll be back in action in no time!
