It’s safe to say that there are differences between the new versions of Ron and Hermione and the actors who played them in the movies, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. In Cursed Child, Ron, played by Paul Thornley, is now in his 40s and has lost his signature red hair! Age has turned him strawberry blonde, but one thing has remained constant: he still rocks the hell out of those hand-knit sweaters. AS JK Rowling puts it: “Ron in his forties isn’t very different from Ron in his teens, except that his feet hurt a bit more.”
There has been incredible, ridiculous controversy over the casting of Noma Dumezweni as Hermione, because she is a black woman. Enraged Potter fans have gone on racist rants decrying the casting choice because she doesn’t match the Hermione from the movies. But take a look at Noma; she’s nailed Hermione’s air of seriousness and perfection; you can tell from the look in her eyes that she knows she’s smarter than us, and she’s not hiding it! Plus that outfit is pretty chic. Leave it to adult Hermione to have a perfectly pressed, immaculate wardrobe.
Says JK: “I saw Noma workshop the part and when John Tiffany told me he’d cast her, I was overjoyed. She gets Hermione inside out.”Ron and Hermione had an adorable daughter who’s hopefully best friends with Albus Potter. Look at the spark in her eye! Rose (Cherrelle Skeete), is clearly her mother’s daughter, bound to be the most clever witch in her class — and no ginger hair, either. This is such a cute family.
