Taylor Swift’s Pre-Met Beauty Look — Love Or Loathe Her New Grunge Style? – Hollywood Life

Taylor Swift’s Dark Red Lip At Pre-Met Gala Party — How-To

Taylor Swift is undergoing a style transformation, but she's keeping her bold lip. In fact, if it weren't for her lipstick, we'd barely recognize her! Find out how to pull off Taylor's darker red hue, and let us know what you think of her new style. It seems that Taylor Swift, 26, is on a mission to bring back '90s grunge. The pop princess, who up until recently, always sported the classic sartorial and beauty looks she sings about, has traded them in for a completely different vibe. While leaving a pre-Met Ball dinner at Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour's home on May 1, TSwift wore a plaid dress and heeled Doc Martens, completing the grungy look with a darker take on her favorite red lipstick.

Starting as a temporary makeover when she revealed platinum blonde hair on the May cover of Vogue, Taylor took us all by surprise when she debuted the bleach blonde, shaggy hairstyle IRL at Coachella. Ever since her blonde debut, Tay’s style has changed along with her hair, rocking ’90s-influenced clothes, and at pal Gigi Hadid‘s 21st birthday celebrations, even trading in her red lip for a vampy wine shade.

For her latest look, Taylor brought it back to the red lip, but she did put a slightly darker twist on it. Luckily, anyone can try her latest hue, whether you want to channel TSwift’s grunge look or stick to your usual taste.

We know that Taylor is a fan of the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, but to match her darker red shade, try the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. A more crimson color, once you’ve applied (and wiped off) a lip scrub to create a smooth base, apply the lipstick straight from the jumbo crayon or line and fill your lips with a similar dark red lip pencil first for a longer lasting base. To balance out the darker red shade, copy Taylor and keep the rest of your makeup simple with clean skin and black mascara.

Sporting this new look just the day before the Met Gala, we’re curious to see if Tay’s new grunge makeover will influence her look for the big night. A regular at the fashion world’s biggest event, this year, Taylor will co-chair the event along with Anna Wintour, Idris Elba and Jonathan Ive. With the technology-focused theme, we can’t wait to see what Taylor and the rest of the attendees come up with!

What do you think of Tay’s new look, HollywoodLifers? Do you think she’ll lose the grunge vibe for the Met Ball?
