Put the liquid liner down! Selena Gomez’s makeup artist is spilling his secrets on how to get the perfect cat eye, and you don’t even need to be an expert with a liquid eyeliner pen. Find out his tips and product recommendations, ahead.
As much as we love a good cat eyeliner look, we admit, even after years of using liquid liner, there’s no guarantee our feline flick will come out perfect. To make sure you never leave the house with uneven wings, makeup artist Hung Vanngo, who regularly glams Selena Gomez and models like Taylor Hill and Karlie Kloss, shared his top tips.

Hung was already one of our favorite makeup artists to follow on Instagram, as much for the close-up pics he posts of the celebs and models he works with as for the hilarious memes he finds. But Hung just gave us another excuse to stalk his Instagram when he posted this gorgeous picture of Taylor with the eyeliner hack we’ve been searching for since our first attempt at liquid liner.
“If your hand is not steady when applying liquid liner, use a double-wear pencil instead. You will have more control but still can achieve the same effect,” he wrote on Instagram.
Using a long wear pencil that’s also waterproof means your liner won’t budge, but the pencil application makes drawing a cat eye look so much easier than going in with a messy liquid pen.
When it comes to the best pencils to use, Hung recommended the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte-Matic Liner for a drugstore option and Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Eye Liner or Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner.
