“I actually am a 14,” Melissa, a mother-of-two, told a room full of press during a conference for her latest movie, The Boss, which hits theaters on April 8. Although she’s been making movies non-stop since her hilarious turn in 2011’s Bridesmaids, Melissa’s weight was always a struggle — until she took control of her diet in 2015.
“You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun and you go to bed at 7:30 — that’s the trick,” Melissa shared with Extra, revealing that her “boring life” was how she managed to drop weight so quickly. Even though that means no more yummy junk food to snack on, Melissa is obviously very happy with her decision!
In the past, Melissa shared that she was on a “high protein, low carb” diet which is what kickstarted her weight loss. Now, 50lbs later, she looks even more fantastic as she struts her stuff down red carpets all over the world. Amazing!
Melissa also keeps busy working on her clothing line, which ranges from size 2 to size 28W. She started the clothing line because she couldn’t get over how so many clothing retailers refused to cater to larger sizes, despite the fact that so much of the population is considered overweight or obese. Since it’s launch, Melissa’s line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7 Collection, has been a huge success among women of all sizes, which is such great news for the actress/designer!
