Superheroes don’t typically come from medieval times, but Finn Jones is breaking the mold! While the 27-year-old British actor currently stars in Game of Thrones as Loras Tyrell, Marvel thought Finn would make an awesome Iron Fist for its next Netflix series. As superhero fans everywhere buzz about the newest casting, find out what you need to know about Finn below!
1. His real name isn’t Finn.
Finn may have just been cast as Iron Fist, but there’s already one way he and his superhero character are similar! He doesn’t quite have an alias because his last name is Jones, but his name isn’t actually Finn. It’s Terence! He only changed his name to avoid confusion with Terry Jones, a member of the comedy group Monty Python.
2. He got his start as a soap star.
Before being cast to GoT in 2010, Finn appeared in Hollyoaks Later, a spin-off to the British soap opera Hollyoaks, in 2009. He has admitted that the soap life is crazy!
3.He’s a big advocate of the gay community.
Although he isn’t gay himself, Finn’s GoT character is, and that has given him a strong appreciation for his role. He was even the cover star of Gay Times magazine in January 2013!
4. He’s an Instagram expert.
Although Finn doesn’t post many pictures that actually include him, he shares images of all the places he travels to — and he is amazing at capturing some epic shots! Plus, his username is Finnstagram. Clearly he knows what he’s doing!
5. When he’s not sword fighting or prepping to be a superhero, you’ll likely find him producing music.
On his Twitter profile, Finn describes himself as an actor and music lover. But he doesn’t just love music, he makes it too! In addition to being part of a London-based collective called Human Effort, he’s also a DJ himself. Although he has only shared one song on his Soundcloud page, it’s more than an hour long, so there’s plenty of Finn’s music to Jam to!
