Chris Brown’s Grammys Rant: Singer Goes Off About Awards Show On Twitter – Hollywood Life

Chris Brown Slams The Grammys After Snub: The Awards ‘Used To Mean Something’

Chris Brown is furious with the Grammys! The R&B singer slammed the awards show in a Twitter rant, claiming they 'used to mean something.' The artist did not receive nominations for his 'Royalty' album nor his 'Fan of a Fan' album with Tyga! Chris Brown, 26, has a bone to pick with the Grammy Awards. Despite being nominated for his "Only" collaboration with Lil' Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake, the "Loyal" singer was completely snubbed in other categories for his Royalty and Fan of a Fan record. Breezy isn't happy about this at all!

Chris took to Twitter on Jan. 30 to vent his frustrations about the Grammys, insisting that they don’t mean anything to him anymore and true artists like himself don’t get the recognition they deserve. Ouch! “#GRAMMY? This is probably the main reason I love being free to create any kind of music I want,” he said in his first tweet. “Too many people kiss a** and work less.”

Chris continued in a second tweet, which was later deleted: “If u turn on ya radio right now I promise within the hour you will hear CHRIS BROWN on damn near half the songs or I’ve co-written. The awards used to mean something. Now it’s about likes, and memes.”

Despite his obvious fury, Chris still thanked his fans for their support and insisted they make him stay true to his art.”I’m thankful to my fans, I am able to be the best artist I can without having to conform to the ways of my peers. I also need my commission,” he concluded. Stream Chris’ music now!

Chris has got a point. It was surprising to see Royalty NOT making it on the Grammy Awards nominations list, considering it debuted on the Billboard chart at number 3 and sold 184,000 copies in its first week! However, the album itself didn’t make the eligibility requirements because it was released after the Sept. 30 cutoff date. But the singer did release his single “Liquor” in June 2015 and a collaborative album with Tyga in Feb. 2015. Chris has been nominated for 15 Grammys in the past. In 2012, he won the Grammy for best R&B album for F.A.M.E. and Fortune.
