“It was written before I had the mastectomy. And then I realized I was shooting the film, it did cross my mind to cut certain things. But I felt that was the wrong thing to do. That’s hiding something, and I just don’t believe in that. And then during the edit I got the call that I might have cancer and had to have my ovaries removed,” Angelina said in her new interview with People.

She also opened up about the reason she wrote the film. “I wrote it wanting to come to terms with my mother’s death. Not just her death but a unfulfilled life. She was very happy as a mother, but there were things she wanted to do but was unable or too scared to do,” she said.

The actress just turned 40 and she couldn’t be happier to be the age she is. “I wouldn’t want to be in my 20s or 30s again. I’m someone who didn’t think I would live very long, I’ve been worried about death and cancer and life. I think I’ve lived very much o the day. Now I’ve settled into my life with my children and Brad,” she explained.
