Selena Gomez’s Rehab: Justin Bieber ‘Was A Huge Part’ Of Her Personal Struggle – Hollywood Life

Selena Gomez: Split From Justin Bieber Was ‘Huge’ Motivator To Enter Rehab

Selena Gomez is incredibly brave. While struggling with lupus in 2014, she checked into a rehab center to cope with personal issues, and her split with Justin Bieber 'was a huge part' of the decision to do so. Selena Gomez, 23, checked into rehab for two weeks in January, 2014, and we are now learning more about why. Recently, the Revival singer revealed the shocking news that she had been diagnosed with lupus and had even undergone chemotherapy to treat the disease. However, it turns out that Selena's breakup with ex, Justin Bieber, 21, was also a major factor. To hear more about Justin Bieber, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

When Selena admitted herself to the Meadows rehab center in Arizona, she was dealing with everything her lupus entailed, however, “she was struggling with a lot of personal issues, too,” a source revealed to Us.[jwplatform TltyyhuE]

Of course, at this time, Selena was very much in the throes of her breakup with longtime boyfriend, Justin, and that inevitably factored into her mental distress. In fact, Justin “was a huge part of it,” added the source. As we know, though, Selena is a fighter and is getting through her issues like a warrior.

“I’ve been working in therapy,” Selena revealed to the mag, being admirably transparent. “This is the best I’ve ever felt!” she added, causing us all to smile so wide that it hurts.

We so admire Selena’s openness in sharing her struggles, and the strength she is lending to so many others. Earlier this year, she explained to Us that her decision to enter rehab was so that she could be her best self. “I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again,” she said. Selena is a role model, and she continues to inspire.

Do you think it was smart that Selena entered rehab following her split from Justin?
