Man Shoots & Kills Wife — Posts Pic & Confession On Facebook
In a series of chilling events, Derek, who has since been charged with first-degree murder, claims he and his wife got into a fight and she was punching him. Derek told police that she had gotten a knife out of the drawer while he went to get his gun, but that he was able to disarm her. He claims she continued to punch him so he shot her multiple times. All the while, his 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship was in the house.
Derek posted the photo along with this absolutely bizarre and scary message:
I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news. My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me.
It took Facebook five hours to finally remove the graphic photo and his profile. In the meantime, Derek drove to his father’s house, confessed to the murder and then they drove together to the police department.
Facebook released this statement:
“The content was reported to us. We took action on the profile — removing the content and disabling the profile, and we reached out to law enforcement. We take action on all content that violates our terms, which are clearly laid out on our site.”
Derek & Jennifer Had Volatile Relationship & He Loved Weapons
Derek and Jennifer definitely did not have a strong marriage. They were reportedly married in January of 2010 and then divorced in February of 2012. Then they remarried three months later.
In multiple pics on Derek’s Facebook page he is seen holding weapons like knives and guns. He also appears in martial arts videos on YouTube. Ironically, Derek had written e-books about how to save a marriage.
Just one day before her death, Jennifer posted a photo to her Facebook page of her kissing Derek. There are multiple photos on each of their Facebook pages that show them enjoying meals and time together.
But a former co-worker of Jennifer’s told the Miami Herald that Derek used to hit her.
“She would be bruised up,” Amanda Cooper said.
Another co-worker, Cathy LaBella, echoed the same thing and said: “He would always come back, begging her. She would say he was going to change. She was in love with him.”
Derek will make his first court appearance at the Miami-Dade courthouse at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 at a hearing.
