Justin Timberlake Reveals 'Mirrors' Is About Jessica Biel

Justin Timberlake is a romantic guy — as we saw during his wedding preparations — and that translates to his songwriting. In an audio clip posted on his website, JT revealed that the love song “Mirrors” is dedicated to his wife, Jessica Biel.

Justin Timberlake On His ‘Other Half’

Though he doesn’t come out and say Jessica’s name, he begins explaining “Mirrors” saying, “‘Mirrors’ is a love song to someone that you feel like is, you know, sort of your other half.” And we all know Jessica is Justin’s other half!

He continues to wax romantic, adding, ”One of the most valuable things in a relationship is being able to constantly change and be individual, but look to the other side to the person that you’re with and and know that they’re changing as well individually, but somehow you two can mirror each other and be the other half of that world that you both create.” JT, what a lover!

The song’s chorus describes a man who is fighting to hold onto his relationship with a girl he believes to be the “the one.” That story matches up with Justin’s real life — in Mar. 2011, Justin and Jessica split briefly after dating for over four years. Thankfully, they reunited and were married on October 19, 2012.

Justin Timberlake Wants To Grow Old With Jessica Biel

At the beginning of the video for “Mirrors,” the song is dedicated to “William & Sadie” — JT’s grandparents who were married for over 60 years. We’re guessing he hopes Jessica continues to be his mirror and that they last just as long.

“I think a relationship, when it’s working, is constantly evolving because we as individuals evolve,” Justin concludes. “You want to know that the person you’re with is evolving with you.”

Absolutely love this song, I split with my husband for 14 months and although I tried to be the life and soul of every party I still felt incomplete, when this song was released we had just gotten back in contact and I found it so poignant and emotional, beautiful lyrics, mesmerized by the tune and you can just feel the love and dedication and devotion in every word. I shed a tear on this one. Its an amazing thing when a beautiful video correlates with a beautiful song.Such a mutual connection between the two. That’s very rare these days. Love like that is rare, and he obviously has that with her. She’s the luckiest girl in the world. Totally envy her right now, and yes, reading about this has made me fall inlove with the song even more. Can’t get enough of it!

I already didn’t believe the song was about her and the fact he has to flat out say that the song is about her make me believe it even less; he dedicated the video to his grandparents.

The song is about Jessica but the video is about his grandparents love story. He lost his beloved grandfather late last year and this is their story. The end is Justin catching his grandmothers wedding rings and hoping he will be able to live up to what they had. A gorgeous sentimental video which is worthy of video of the year.
