Nicki Minaj Quitting 'American Idol' To Work On New Album?

The pink-haired rapper has been seen getting emotional, attached and rowdy on ‘American Idol’ this season, but since she’s working on a new album, it’s questionable if she’ll be back next year as a judge. HollywoodLife.com exclusively obtained the truth!

Right before she began judging American Idol, Nicki Minaj dropped her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up. She recently told MTV that she is currently working on a new video from The Re-Up, where she’ll be work Lil’ Wayne. Then she wants to start writing. Where do her judging duties fall in line?

Nicki Minaj Will Be Recording New Album During ‘American Idol’

“I’ll be doing it here in L.A. while I’m shooting Idol,” Nicki told MTV about recording her next album. ”It’s gonna be the direction of the new songs that I put out on the re-release.”

So, no news yet on whether or not she’ll return for another season of the hit Fox show, but she did share a little hint of who she wants to win.

UPDATE: A source close to the situation tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, ”There has been no rumblings that she is thinking of leaving, will be fired or anything. The live LA shows haven’t even started and people are happy with her performance. So the talk of her leaving is currently far fetched and premature.”

Who Nicki’s Pulling For On ‘Idol’?

“The stars have aligned and the girls that have come to audition for us have had just had strong voices like I don’t know what,” Nicki said in an interview. “We narrowed it down to some great girls. I think we did a great job picking amazing voices, so I am actually hoping a girl wins this year.”

While she hasn’t listed a specific talented woman she’s pulling for, she did tell Aubrey Cleland that she’s “obsessed” with her after she sang “Sweet Dreams” by Beyonce on the episode on Wednesday Feb. 27.

However, it could be possible she’s pulling for Zoanette Johnson, who took on The Lion King‘s “The Circle of Life” on Wednesday, getting a standing ovation from all four judges, and bringing Nicki to tears.

U all need to give nicki a break, i think she is doing a great job on the show. A better job than what boring mariah is doing. She is hot, sexy, funny, and a great judge. U all need to shut up because none of u can do what she is doing. Mariah is boring and nicki is the only reason why i watched American idol.

The show I thought was supposed to be about the singers ? It is not the Nicki Minaj show.
She should not even be on that show as a judge. Fox needs a wake up call !!!!

I can’t watch American Idol anymore! I can not stand Nikki on the show. She is talent-less and annoying. I do not see how the other judges out up with her. I would curb stomp her if I had to deal with her for a minute!

Wow…lots of haters out there. I think Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are both doing a great job of making this show entertaining again. Since Simon, no one had the balls to make any useful critiques to any of the contestants. It was always “oh you’re a great singer everyone”. As a result they had to add Jimmy Iovine to say how bad everyone actually was the next day. This panel is a breathe of fresh air. And nobody kid themselves, Idols ratings have been declining for years especially now with all these other singing shows, and simply because the show has 1.) Aged 2.) become boring and 3.) Has a winner that is basically the same person every year.

when Jennifer and Steven left the show that they made the show very amazing , show wasn’t like before and with new judges panel its awful.kieth is good and randy is good too but two girls are awful.mariah is a good singer but in person sucks and can’t judge and nicki sucks in singing and person and judging and …
if the bring J-Lo and Steven back , viewers come back too ,and if they don’t viewers don’t too.

If FOX wants to get their viewers back, they will fire this idiot from the show. She is not qualified to judge anyone, she can’t even sing! What a retard!

So what if she can’t sing? she’s not a singer she’s a rapper. Ellen wasn’t a singer either, neither was Simon and despite Randy being a producer he’s not a singer. Nicki on the other hand is a female rapper and an actress. She majored in theatre. She can carry a note live. Although she isn’t a Mariah Carey she does have songs on her albums that are not full of autotune i.e Save Me, Marilyn Monroe, Fire Burns to name a few. Don’t get confused by the mainstream Nicki Minaj and mainstream Nicki Minaj songs. There’s a reason why they call her versatile rapper. Her music incorporates Hip-Hop, Pop, Dance, Electronic, Opera, Reggae and R&B. She even did rock once. She always said her albums would be Pop, Rock and Hip-Hop. No FEMALE RAPPER EVER did what Nicki Minaj is doing in terms of sound and still is successful and current and making history. That’s why she’s on the panel. That’s why she’s qualified as a judge.

Nikki Minaj is a nasty person. I cannot look at her, can’t stand her, and she lowers the standard of the show with her disgusting outfits, and lewd comments to contestants. Is this the best Idol could do?

I think people who have such negative comments about miss manaj should not even watch her or American idol.if you hate her all that much do not watch her at all.shes what show biz is all about.i think she’s intertaining,foxy,smart,and she’s sure giving you all something to talk about.sounds like a bunch of jelous people with nothing else or nobody else to talk about at the moment.keep on keeping on niki,your the bomb and a star in my book.i hope you don’t pay any attention to these loosers.you have plenty of fans without these negative people.i love you girl.
