Everyone in Hollywood ought to take lessons from Nina and Ian! The ‘Vampire Diaries’ duo should be the model for all other couples — the way they work together so well and openly support each other is romance at its finest!

As stars of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder turn in excellent work week after week, but it’s the way the couple supports, respects and loves one another that I really find inspiring. After appearing at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards together on Jan. 10, proud of their love for one another, the two have proved again that they never shy away from an opportunity to gracefully prove their love to their adoring fans — the way a Hollywood relationship ought to work!

Ian Somerhalder & Nina Dobrev’s Relationship History

Ian and Nina met, not unlike many other Hollywood couples, when the two were cast on The CW’s supernatural series in 2009. But unlike their big-screen counterparts, they confirmed their relationship rather quickly after beginning dating in 2011 by walking a red carpet together in June of that year.

Since then, the couple hasn’t missed an opportunity to support each other, both out in public and in the media. In an September 2012 interview with Seventeen, Nina gushed about how her feelings for Ian won over her hesitance towards a workplace romance. “The first time I was on the cover of Seventeen, the cover line said ‘Nina: Why she wouldn’t date any of her co-stars.’ And then cut to two years later…it’s funny that I said that, but you know what? It was honestly what I believed at the time,” Nina said. “I didn’t want to be dating one of my costars — my goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can’t help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long — which I did for a really, really long time.”

That sort of public recognition of the relationship is adorable — not to mention, it’s something that most other Hollywood couples tend to avoid!

Not only are Nina and Ian committed to each other, they’re both admirably committed to many charitable organizations. In the past, Ian has worked with the It Gets Better Project, which aims to provide support to, and prevent suicide amongst, LGBT youth. On Dec. 8, 2010, Ian also launched The Ian Somerhalder Foundation, through which he aims to educate people on the importance of protecting the environment and animals.

In 2011, Nina co-hosted We Day, a “youth empowerment” event held annually in her home country of Canada, with the mission to motivate youth to take action on both local and global issues.

the way i feel is that there is something missing between them n that is their relationship i think will not last for too long

Ian somerhalder love his personality but this relationship has gone to far ian never once said I’m dating nina dobrev he never said once I love her my thing is there not dating at all cause if you love someone you are going to want to talk about it either one of them hasn’t done that that relationship is fake there dating yeah for publicity when this show is over they are going to go there desperate ways which is the truth :) he has never talked about her and if he has it was about vampire diaries I don’t believe it cause its not true they take pictures of them to put in magazines so the mag will make money sorry

There is nothing fake about them, they are very private people especially Ian. Nina has said in on interview that she fought her feelings for a long time, until she could not fight it anymore. They share a apparterment in atlanta and seen out and about there, the local people let them have there privacy but ones in a while you here someone mention that they have seen them together. Also they spent time together with familie. Ian is a very busy Person with his foundation and a lot of other things he is involved with , and Nina is busy also, doing her own thing, wich i think is very healthy for a good relationship. They are a beautiful couple and i wish them all the Best.

Right! Another glamorization of a couple in Hollywood. Like people actually know EVERYTHING about them or what happens behind the scenes. These two, knowing how obsessed they are with the limelight, are probably just putting on a nice facade for the media. We all know how most Hollywood romances end, so the media should stop shoving down our throats this meaningless crap.

Actually, they’re incredibly privet about their relationship as they can be. There was a lot of speculation about their relationship for a long time, but they never went public until someone took a photo of them kissing at a private party and it kind of just spread from there and they couldn’t really deny it anymore. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are not “obsessed with the limelight”. They’re good people who have done a lot of good things. Stop generalizing people because you have this distorted view of everyone who happens to be an actor or actress.

Oh yes, of course robsten is the best ROLE MODEL CELEBRITY COUPLE. Not. Are you forgetting that Kristen cheated on Robert Pattinson? That is hardly a good example to set for other couples. Nina and Ian are the perfect example of how a relationship should be. They have never cheated, they have always been there for each other. Plus, they are both into to helping people and the environment. There is not doubt that they love each other and I could only hope to have a relationship like theirs.
