An argument after a Trey Songz concert may be what lead Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher to commit suicide at the team’s training facility on Dec. 1, approximately an hour after shooting his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins dead.
Jovan Belcher, 25, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 1. His death occurred approximately an hour after he shot and killed girlfriend Kasandra Perkins, 22. According to a new report, the couple argued after Kasandra returned home late, following a Trey Songz concert.
“Jovan and Kasandra were frequently seen arguing over the course of their relationship,” a friend told the Kansas City Star. However, she had no reason to believe their fights had ever become violent.
On Friday night, Nov. 30, the friend added, “Jovan confronted Kasandra when she came home after watching R&B star Trey Songz perform in Kansas City.”
Unfortunately, details of their argument may never see the light of day.
“Jovan was a happy, proud father, with pictures of his baby on his Facebook page,” Jovan’s agent Joe Linta told SI.com’s Peter King on Saturday Dec. 1. “This is shocking. Something went crazy wrong, and we’ll probably never know what it is.”

The incident took place after a related, earlier off-site shooting, a Kansas City police spokeswoman Darin Snapp told NFL.com.
“About (7:50 a.m), we got a call to a residence, in regards to a shooting, on the 5400 block of Crysler Ave,” Darin said. “We arrived and the lady there informed us that her daughter had been shot by her on-again, off-again boyfriend. The young woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died a short time later.”
“At about 8:10 a.m., we received a call to the Arrowhead practice facility in regards to a black male armed with a gun in the parking lot, and he matched the description of the shooting suspect,” Darin continued. “Officers arrived, saw a black man with a gun to his head, and some Chiefs employees. As the officer got out of his car, he heard a gunshot. It appeared the individual shot himself. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”
“We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation,” a team statement said, confirming the incident.

Jovan and girlfriend Kasandra Perkins had a baby less than three months ago, on Sept 11.
Jovan grew up on Long Island, New York and played for the Maine Black Bears in college, where he was named first team All American in the Football Championship Subdivision. Jovan agreed to a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009 after not getting drafted. In 2011, he became a starting linebacker for the team.

He was caught intoxicated sleeping in his car. Why didn’t they take him into the station and let him sleep it off for 12 hours there like on a DUI before the court date is given to them? They obviously didn’t want to arrest him, just because he’s in the NFL. Boys looking out for boys. If it had been anyone else not a regular guy who was poor regardless of race, (unless it was a friend) they would’ve been locked up right away, but they let him go into a nearby apartment to sleep it off (obviously the same apt he just came from because no one is going to let a drunk stranger sleep it off in their house. So the police just let him go in from back where he just came from and maybe he did take a nap & got back up in the morning still drunk but drinking again that morning anyway. So he was really messed up when he got home. So, why was he so upset that his woman went out for a change after 9 months of pregnancy & 3 months after the birth? He was a mean man who didn’t appreciate anything or anyone that he had & was a coward for committing suicide after running like a coward from the scene of the crime. That woman was too good for him. But she looked happy in the pictures. I guess she was the only one along with his mom who just saw the best qualities in him and hoped that he would get better eventually and dealt with him because they loved him. He looked like he has different personalities. The sober one that they loved and the drunk one that they would hope that he would overcome. His mom witnessed the murder, so she was with the baby and his woman when he came in acting like an @$#@!!!. He was a dangerous person to be around obviously. So, I feel sorry for the baby being without the mother. And the mother loved him, and he didn’t appreciate her or respect her obviously. Nor did he his mother. He killed his woman with his mom and his baby in the house. He was no good. And suicide, well if purgatory is real and suicide is a sin, then he really didn’t get off easy with shooting himself, because, if that is real, he’s in eternal hell or something like that. His woman will be in heaven. And she suffered before she eventually died in the hospital, but he’s be suffering forever now. I feel sorry for his mother to know that her son did that. Now she’s the only one probably left to take care of her granddaughter. And the baby when she grows enough in childhood to realize what her dad did and deprived her of her mom and the emotional trauma that her grandmother went to to witness it, she’ll probably have to get some therapy.The police should have done their job right and this wouldn’t have happened. I hope that the victim’s family sues that police dept. This could have been avoided if the police had arrested him and then a judge had done the right thing including making him go to rehab. But that’s all in a near perfect world which doesn’t exist for some people. Sorry for venting like this but this really @#%$ me off when I heard of this happening
