In a brand-new interview, Taylor explains the song ‘The Last Time.’ Do YOU think it’s about Jake?

Taylor Swift loves to write songs about failed relationships. In a recent interview, Taylor explains “The Last Time,” one of the songs of her hit album Red, which sounds a lot like her former relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal!

“The idea was based on this experience I had with someone who was kind of this unreliable guy. You never know when he’s going to leave, you never know when he’s going to come back, but he always does come back. My visual for this song is, there’s a guy on his knees sitting on the ground outside of a door. And on the other side of the door is his girlfriend, who he keeps on leaving, and he keeps coming back to her, but then he leaves again. He’s saying, ‘This is the last time I’m going to do this to you.’ And she’s saying, ‘This is the last time I’m asking you this: Don’t do this again.’ And she’s wondering whether to let him in, and he just wants her to give him another chance, but she doesn’t know if he’s going to break her heart again. It’s a really fragile emotion you’re dealing with when you want to love someone, but you don’t know if it’s smart to,” Taylor told NPR.

Vulture explains the meaning behind “The Last Time” as having a hidden message with the lyric, “L.A. ON YOUR BREAK.” The site goes on to explain saying, “Who takes breaks? Actors take breaks from movies (Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner); musicians take breaks from tours or recording (John Mayer); high-schoolers take breaks from Deerfield. But since L.A. does not really seem like a Kennedy vacation spot, this one goes in the Gyllenhaal column because of the protracted breakup references.”

Note to Taylor — If Jake Gyllenhaal knocks at your door, asking for a second chance, you let him in! But that’s just my opinion.

With Taylor and Vulture’s explanations combined, “The Last Time” sounds like it may be about Jake. What do you think, HollywoodLifers?

Sounds more like Taylor L. he was visiting her at some concerts and timing has been off for them since their first break-up with each other seeing someone else when the other is free and crazy schedules due to movies. Hope they actually do try a Last Time tand know it that it is worth a real effort. How about Valentine’s 2013, her favorite number, her first love and the guy who was soo good to her… soo right.

It’s not about Jake, he never begged her to go back or waited on his knee’s outside her door. Now I can see her doing that to him though. She needs to get over Jake, he is way over her.

Yeah like Alexandra stated it’s a secret message in the lyrics. For example: YoUr SWeet DissPosition ANd mY wide-eYeD gaZe. It looks like that. And all her lyrics are like that in her pamphlet. They all say something having to do with her relationshionships. There fun to un-code. : )

She needs to slow down and stop dating until she knows what she really wants in a real man…….. Not just date to write a new song…… People are going to start to think she is unstable and unable to maintain a relationship………… check it; before you wreck it Taylor………I am older and had 4 long term relationships until I met my husband. I didn’t just date and date… I would have lots of friends but I didn’t date my friends…… Put the brakes on……. I love you honestly…..

It’s about John Mayer and his brake from music. It was him who came and go with Taylor. Go back to Taylor’s Dear John “lived in your chess guess, but you changed the rules everyday” “Maybe it’s you and your sick need to give love then take it away ” “you are an expert at sorry”.
Please re-write the article, it’s not about Jake.

This girl is too needy! She needs to grow up and stop writing songs about bad relationships. If they are all bad, it must be her!

Sounds like after two years, she can’t move on. Very sad. She should see a counsler about it, not keep putting it in a song!!! Get a life.

I don’t hear the lyric “L.A. on your break”. Can someone please point out where that lyric is in the song?

it’s in the secret message if you look at the lyrics package in the CD. It’s not an actual lyric in the song.
