Kim and Khloe dish about their first periods in a new Kotex-sponsored video series — is this liberating, or just nasty?
We’re all for girl power here at HollywoodLife.com, so it’s great to see celebrities like Kim and Khloe Kardashian and their mom, Kris Jenner, encouraging women to talk about their health in their new Kotex Web series, ‘Getting Real with the Kardashians.’ But do you really want hear the details of their first menstrual cycles, or is it too much information?
Kim, 29, says she got her first visit from ‘Aunt Flow’ at Khloe’s birthday party one summer. “I got my period seeing the movie Batman…June 27,” the middle Kardashian sister dishes to her mom and sister. “I was with Rob and Bruce and we had just come back from riding horses in Malibu. And I was sooo — just didn’t know what to do.”
Unfortunately for Khloe, 25, she didn’t have any support from her mom or sisters when she first got her period. “I was at Nana’s house by myself with Rob in Palm Springs,” she remembers.
Why the confessionals? Khloe says it’s high-time girls have the freedom to talk about health issues.
“Getting your period is natural, so as a woman, why should I have to keep my mouth shut about it?” she writes in her blog post titled ‘Let’s Talk PERIODS! WOOOHOOO.’ “But not all girls are as comfortable discussing these sorts of topics as freely as I am, and that’s the issue that I want to address here.”
Khloe, count me as one of those uncomfortable girls! The LAST thing I want to talk about in public is…that.
