As one of the most recognizable names in hip-hop, Sean “Diddy” Combs, once known as P. Diddy, established a star-studded network across Hollywood. In 1998, leveraging all his connections, the rapper began hosting his famously opulent White Parties, where no expense was spared. Notable for its all-white dress code, Diddy’s soirée required guests to dress in white, with the décor also adhering to the theme. During a 2006 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Diddy explained that the purpose was to “strip away everyone’s image and put us all in the same color, on the same level.”
The event was originally held in the Hamptons and continued until 2009. It became a highly coveted soiree among celebrities seeking invitations. Diddy was in custody in New York on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, and was on trial for those charges. He was found not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy but guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution and was sentenced to four years and two months in prison.
