Ian Harrison will be returning to The Voice stage as he faces the Battles of season 22. Ian will be competing against Alyssa Witrado in the latest round of Battles on October 24.
The 20-year-old singer from Columbus, Ohio, made an amazing first impression during the Blind Auditions. Now he’s ready to take on the next round of the competition. So, who is Ian Harrison? Here’s everything you need to know.
Ian performed a gorgeous rendition of Lord Huron’s “The Night We Met.” Blake Shelton is the first coach to turn his red chair. John Legend and Gwen Stefani turn as well. John noted that Ian has a tone “that’s really enchanting.” Blake said that Ian’s performance was “so powerful with just the character of your voice.” Gwen told Ian that “you showed me your heart.” Ian picked Gwen as his coach. Ian posted his Blind Audition on his TikTok page, and it currently has over 15 million views.
Ian’s father died when he was 9 years old, Ian revealed in his intro package. “My dad and I were very close. There was one tradition we had where we’d wake up early in the morning before my siblings. He’d take me on his motorcycle, and we’d go get breakfast before any of them got up,” Ian said. Ian’s dad took his own life in 2011.
A year after his father’s death, Ian’s adopted dad, Scott, came into his life. “He was very good about making sure that we all felt loved and needed,” Ian said about Scott. Scott and Ian’s mom, Kristy, were backstage supporting Ian during his Blind Audition.
When Ian got his hands on his father’s guitar, he found “notes in the guitar case.” He realized that his dad was trying to write a song. Ian said it “felt like I had a piece of him.”
Ian attends Columbus State University. He works at a bar on the weekends and pursues music between school and work. “I’ve always wanted to take a step toward making career music, it’s just, I don’t think I was ever confident enough,” Ian said after his Blind Audition.
