Adrian Peterson is a former NFL running back, known for playing with the Minnesota Vikings. He began his NFL career in 2007, and while he spent most of his time in the league with the Vikings, he played with a number of different teams before retiring in 2021. His last team was the Seattle Seahawks. As a player, he was named the MVP in 2012, Rookie of the Year in 2007, Offensive Player of Year in 2012, and he appeared in seven Pro Bowls.

How Did Adrian Meet Ashley?

Adrian and Ashley’s love story actually pre-dates his time in the NFL. The pair met when Adrian was a college player with the University of Oklahoma. As he played for the Sooners, he also crossed paths with Ashley, according to Pro Football NetworkThe pair dated off-and-on as they were students, but they eventually settled down as Adrian’s NFL career continued.

She Owns a Cosmetics Brand

While her husband is a well-known running back, Ashley has her own successful business. She’s been a model, and she also owns her own beauty line: Elizabella Cosmetics. She’s the founder and CEO of the company. On Instagram, she boasts that her products are “cruelty-free,” and she shows off the different lipsticks and other products she offers.

Aside from her cosmetic line, Ashley also co-founded the AAPF Foundation with her husband. She serves as a director and president of the charitable organization, which seeks “to improve quality of life through resources and economic development, as well as, transform communities through educational and economical empowerment,” according to its website.

They Got Married in 2014

It was revealed that Adrian and Ashley tied the knot when they were both spotted wearing rings at the Starkey Hearing Foundation Gallery in 2014, per TMZ. The couple reportedly exchanged their vows in a private ceremony on July 19, 2014.

They Have 3 Kids

Ashley recently became a mom for the third time! She welcomed her first baby girl, Abrielle, on August 29, 2023, according to an Instagram post. Aside from their newborn daughter, Ashley and Adrian are proud parents to sons, Adrian Peterson, Jr. and Axyl Eugene Peterson. 

While he has three children with Ashley, Adrian has reportedly fathered five other children with other women, according to a 2016 Sports Illustrated profile. One of Adrian’s sons, Tyrese Ruffin, was murdered in 2013, according to USA TodayAdrian also faced child abuse charges for reckless assault for beating his son with a “switch.” He pleaded “no contest” and reached an agreement, which resulted in a fine and community service sentence in 2014. He was also suspended from the NFL for a season.

Ashley Defended Adrian When He Was Arrested for Domestic Violence.

Adrian was arrested while on an airplane leaving LAX in February 2022. He was taken off the flight and booked by the LAPD on suspicions of domestic violence, according to ESPN. Instead of being prosecuted, he agreed to undergo 20 counseling sessions for domestic violence and alcohol.

After the incident, Ashley released a statement on Instagram, saying that her husband didn’t lay a hand on her. “On Sunday, Adrian and I had a verbal argument. Unfortunately, it was on an airplane. At no point did Adrian hit or strike me. This is a private matter between my husband and myself. We ask that everyone respect our privacy so we can focus on what matters most: our children,” she wrote.
