Khloe Kardashian is teaching her two-year-old daughter True Thompson the importance of giving back. The mother-daughter-duo shared in a December 9 post on Instagram that they had recently donated toys to their local fire station in the hopes of children receiving a holiday gift this season. The series of photos and video showed True, in her Christmas best, and Khloe, going incognito, delivering shopping bags full of toys. Far more touching than the videos, however, were the emotional words Khloe scribed for her caption.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 36, felt inspired to donate the toys to her local fire station after “watching the news,” where a story on the lack of toy donations struck a chord with her. “There are so many other ways we can give back,” an excerpt from the beginning of her caption read. “Being kind to one another seems so simple but in these dark times we need kindness and compassion more than ever.”
The mother-of-one listed a slew of ways that even small acts of kindness can make a world of difference for someone who is struggling. They included, “calling isolated lonely friends and family, checking in on one another’s morale to remind people that they are loved and not alone,” and “writing letters to children or elderly in the hospital.” The Good American mogul noted that, this year especially, “we forget about the simple things that can completely change someone’s mood, and make their day.”
“I feel so fortunate that I am able to donate toys to our local fire station. Our fire station will be distributing toys to children and teenagers in need of holiday cheer this year,” Khloe explained. Then Khloe noted how, even though she is just two years old, showing True how “blessed and fortunate she is” means everything to her. “It’s so important for her to see how we give back to others, ESPECIALLY in such unprecedented times. Children learn with action and consistency. This is just the first of many trips we are making,” Khloe, who shares True with Tristan Thompson, wrote.
Finally, Khloe encouraged those who are able to give back any way they could, whether it be financial, through volunteering, or advocacy. “If you are able to donate a toy or some warm clothes, please check your local areas. Fire stations, grocery stores, churches. There are tons of small businesses you can help, or even a stranger down the street.”
